Adoption FAQ's

Q. What do I need to do before I come pick an animal?
A. We require a completed adoption application before we schedule visits with potential adopters.  By reviewing and processing your application we learn all about what animal you are interested in and can help you find the perfect match.

Q. Do I need references?
A. Yes, we require at least one personal reference. We will call references as well as your current or previous veterinarian to find out if you are the perfect fit for the animal of your choice.

Q. When should I expect to hear back about  my application?
A. Your application will be reviewed within 24 hours of receiving it. If we feel you are the best fit for the animal you can expect to hear from us in within 1-3 days. We always go by "best fit" and not necessarily the first application received.

Q. What are your adoption fees?
A. Our dog adoption fees start at $300.00 and vary by animal. For this fee your dog is spayed/neutered, given a rabies and distemper vaccine, microchipped, and tested for heartworm and Lyme disease.

For cats over six months old the fee is $100 and kittens are $125.  Cats are spayed/neutered and given distemper and rabies shots.

Q. Can I still adopt if I live in an apartment?
A. YES, it is possible sometimes! Keep in mind that your landlord needs to approve of your adopting an animal too. Please have your landlord let us know in writing that you are approved to have the animal/s you'd like to adopt.

Q. Where can I find the application?
A. You can find the link to our application here: CARe Adoption Application.

Q. What happens after I submit the application?
A. Once the application is approved, we will begin checking your references and then schedule a visit. Adoption selections are made on a "Best Fit" basis and not on a "first come, first served" basis.

Q. How long does the application process take? How soon can we take our new pet home?
A. Timelines vary depending on availability of personal references, landlord and veterinarian approvals; but generally we can complete an adoption process in one day (sometimes it may take two to three days.) We like to have all of our animals move into happy healthy homes as soon as possible!
